Superstars
Age: 5+
Our Superstars class is specifically designed to help children, adolescents, and adults with special needs explore the world of dance!
In this high-energy 45-minute class, dancers will work through basic movement, rhythm, and creative expression through music and props in a supportive studio environment. Along the way, they build social skills, focus, listening skills, body awareness, and proprioception.
Students will be able to participate in the end-of-season show with a routine they’ll learn in class.
Grownup and Me
Age: 18 Months to 3 Years
Grownup and Me is a fun, upbeat 30-minute class where young children and a parent, grandparent, or other special caregiver move and explore music together! Through guided activities, the class encourages coordination, locomotor and non-locomotor skills, and creative expression. It’s a wonderful way to bond with your child while connecting with other families in your community!
Pre-Fusion & Fusion Pre-K
Age: 3 Years
Have a budding dancer? Our Pre-Fusion & Fusion Pre-K classes combine ballet and jazz elements to get them moving and learning.
Pre-Fusion is a 45-minute class designed especially for young dancers to build the skills they’ll need as they grow into future dance programs. Through stories, songs, gentle repetition, and minimal props, dancers develop movement skills, body awareness, coordination, creativity, and listening skills at a comfortable pace. Students will get to show off their skills in a routine for the end-of-season show.
Fusion Pre-K for dancers ages four through Kindergarten teaches movement and motor skills, basic ballet technique, rhythm and coordination skills, and creative movement in a one-hour class. Age-appropriate music and props are utilized to make these classes fun, and a routine will be taught for the end-of-season show.
Fusion
Age: Kindergarten to Adult
Our one-hour Fusion classes—where ballet and jazz are blended together—are the foundation of YMCA Dance and are recommended for dancers seeking a well-rounded experience.
In this class, dancers learn fundamental ballet and jazz techniques. Classes are organized by division and level, with placement determined by YMCA Dance instructors.
Classes focus on barre work, center floor technique, such as leaps and turns, and learning a short combination for the end-of-season show.
Leaps and Turns
Age: Grades 6-12
Leaps and Turns is a one-hour technique-focused class designed to enrich our core Fusion and Ballet programs for dancers who want to grow beyond a “just for fun” level.
This class concentrates exclusively on building and refining leaps and turns, with an emphasis on fundamentals such as turnout, core strength, and lift. No routines are taught, and classes are organized by level to ensure appropriate challenge and progress.
Please note that enrollment in a Fusion class—or a pre-assessment with YMCA Dance instructors—is required to be a part of this class.
Hip Hop
Age: Grades 1-12
Our one-hour Hip Hop class brings energy, style, and confidence to the dance floor! Dancers learn age-appropriate hip hop choreography and a variety of foundational techniques while developing rhythm, musicality, and self-expression.
Classes are divided into divisions to ensure dancers are learning and growing alongside peers at a similar level. Students will learn a complete high-energy routine to perform at the end of the season.
Tap
Age: Grades Kindergarten-12, and Adults
Our 45-minute Tap class helps dancers of all ages build strong tap technique while developing rhythm, timing, and musicality. Through structured exercises and fun combinations, students learn how to maintain these techniques in a performance setting.
Classes are divided by level—while still considering age and maturity—with placement determined by YMCA Dance teachers. Dancers will also learn a routine to perform in the end-of-season show.
