Under the direction of the Youth Development Director, the Day Camp Director shall be responsible for the development, organization, and implementation of a high-quality camp program during the months of May-August. This is a seasonal full-time position.


Essential Functions:

  • Direct and supervise Straight Arrow Day Camp activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop schedules, and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, including the organization of registration.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the program on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain all paperwork pertinent to the job.
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of all campers and staff throughout the camp program.
  • Supervise campers and counselors during all water activities and specialty programs.
  • When needed, give counselors breaks in their day.
  • Maintain visibility during check-in and check-out to help parents and campers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Experience in a leadership role in youth programs, preferably in a YMCA setting.
  • Educational background suited to the essential functions of the position.
  • Ambitious with outstanding organizational, human relations, and programming skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. You'll provide direct supervision of a group of children in our summer day camp. This is a seasonal full-time position.


Essential Functions:

  • Supervises a group of children.
  • Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  • Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Attends staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children, and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.
  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including such duties as mopping, dusting, and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing, meeting set up, pool cleaning, snow removal, grounds keeping, and other related responsibilities.


Essential Functions:

  • Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains the upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
  • May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  • Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
  • May set up furniture for events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

We're currently seeking fun, energetic preschool teachers who enjoy working with children ages 2 through Pre-K. We’re looking for a responsible, engaged leader who has the desire to change lives and create a lasting impact on youth and adults in our community. You will lead the development, implementation, administration, growth, and evaluation of effective, safe aquatics programs. You will ensure that our day-to-day aquatic operations run safely and effectively.


Essential Functions:

  • Directs and manages the development, operations, and growth of the aquatics department to meet the needs of the community.
  • Establishes innovative aquatics programming and expands program(s) within the branch and community in accordance with the associatio’sn and branch’s strategic plans.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and manages the aquatics budget/s meeting or exceeding fiscal objectives.
  • Closely monitors revenue and expenses.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, mentors, evaluates, and supervises assigned staff and volunteers.
  • Provides development and leadership to direct reports.
  • Ensures that safety procedures are followed and that all programs and the pool deck are in compliance with YMCA standards and regulations.
  • Compiles program statistics and provides data and reports as required for program(s).
  • Monitors program quality through innovative program evaluations and ongoing training of staff.
  • Conducts lifeguarding and swim instructor certification trainings and in-service trainings for current aquatics employees.
  • Collaborates with the marketing department to develop, produce, and distribute program information necessary to promote aquatics programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or related field or equivalent education/experience
  • Experience in innovative and collaborative partnership programming
  • Two or more years of related experience including staff and volunteer supervision, program development, budget management, and fundraising
  • Ability/experience training aquatics employees
  • Hold state-approved first-aid and CPR for the professional rescuer certifications
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to represent the Y in a professional manner
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, databases, and web-based applications
  • Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.)
  • Current YMCA lifeguard trainer or equivalent certification is recommended
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English is a plus
  • Daxko Operations experience is a plus
  • Swim lesson instructor is a plus

Salary Range:

$41,500 - $50,000
