As a community partner, IU Health strives to improve the overall health of those in the greater Lafayette, Indiana area by providing educational and fitness programs for individuals of all ages.
IU Health offers valuable opportunities for wellness at the YMCA.
Of the 460,000 diabetics in Indiana, 62,000 are kids between the ages of 10 and 17. IU Health is working to keep these number from growing, while providing vital diabetes management resources to those who are affected.
Fit for Life
In partnership with the YMCA, IU Health offers Fit for Life. This program addresses youth obesity by providing healthy, productive activities for kids ages 5 to 12.
Health & Nutrition
IU Health collaborates with Franciscan Health to provide health and nutrition education to the community. Nutrition information is offered as part of the YMCA’s cultural initiatives, while health education is provided as needs-based outreach.
We’re expanding education with hands-on experiences.
Students from the nursing program at Ivy Tech Community College can intern at IU Health in the YMCA facility.
The Indiana School of Medicine, in partnership with IU Health, provides learning opportunities for the life science portion of the curriculum at Ivy Tech.
Students in healthcare fields outside of nursing can also find internship and educational opportunities with IU Health when they study at Ivy Tech.
