Week 4: Serve

We are designed to be givers and not just takers. To take hold of a weapon of spirit and look out for our friends and our neighbors.

If we're willing to prioritize the needs of others, to reach for our best things to give, and to carve out time to serve, we will discover the transformation rewards that come only from heroic love. The rewards are great, but the motivation to do nothing can be greater…push through! Be STRONG!

Below are a handful of ideas to help you start (or continue) serving others.

  • Make a healthy snack for loved ones. (Learn how with Ivan!) | Facebook Live | Nov. 25 at 5pm
  • Buy lunch for someone.

  • Help a neighbor rake leaves.

  • Send a gift certificate to someone who lost their job.

  • Deliver meals to seniors with Meals on Wheels.
  • Volunteer with the YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, Food Finders, or another organization.

  • Mentor a child through Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

  • Donate to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

  • Pray for someone in need.

  • Donate school supplies for local children.

  • Use your network to help someone find a job.

  • Pay for someone’s meal ahead of you at a drive-thru.

  • Write an inspiring article and share it on LinkedIn.

  • Help someone afford a gym membership with a YMCA scholarship.

  • Donate blood.

  • Help with a community clean-up.

  • Do extra chores around the house.

  • Encourage five people on the STRONG Challenge Facebook group.

  • Fill a box with food and take it to your local food pantry.

  • Build a house with Habitat For Humanity!

  • Call a senior to check in and ask if they need any help.

  • Clean up a park (bring your own garbage bags).

  • Donate to your local animal shelter, or adopt a pet.

  • "Compete" in a virtual 5k for a good cause.

  • Help a child through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

  • Adopt a family for Christmas.

  • Make PPE masks for childcare workers, students, and/or seniors.

  • Say something kind to someone or provide encouragement.
